The innovation stages
An important step was the merger of two competing companies active in the container transportation sector: Auta Container Service S.p.A. and Marocchi S.p.A. A new reality was born with a great development plan in the container industry.
We expanded our network to the main Italian inland terminals.
We launched the Padua branch, we increased our Italian network and entered the intermodal transport system becoming an MTO (Multimodal Transport Operator).
We developed the range of services offered introducing the FTL transport (Full truck Load) both nationally and internationally.
We were the first in Italy to introduce the multifunctional trailers for the transportation of containers measuring 20,30,20 feet, with the same “extendable” semi-trailer.
We developed terminal container operations by creating a network of depots in Trieste, Genoa, Venice, Padua and Leghorn. Our activities were mainly focused on Shipping Lines and were strongly integrated within the transportation of containers. We broadened our logistics activities building infrastructures in Padua, Trieste and Udine.
First Italian transport Enterprise to use the “cell based” tracking system with the collaboration of TIM SpA. The plan was officially presented at the Infomobility event in Turin in 2004.
Launch of Portogruaro Interporto S.p.A. (subsidiary)
Globalization of our markets with the creation of companies in Hungary and Slovenia.
The satellite-tracking plan entirely developed in-house, evolves by integrating the GPS technology from our back office software to the truck’s onboard computer.
The release of the Track&Trace portal, allowed our Clients to instantly know where their cargo was at all times. Autamarocchi had a crucial role in launching and evolving the National Logistics Platform of the Ministry for Infrastructures and Transport collaborating with UirNet SpA.
The “Green” policy of Autamarocchi started, revealing the CO2 emissions and their reduction program.
The “Autamarocchi Academy” was launched to train drivers to achieve safer and more economical driving.
Autamarocchi lines up the largest Italian fleet whose vehicles are equipped with Genset providing electrical power to reefer containers. We were the first to install GenSets on tractors and our warehouses were fully trained and certified to perform maintenance procedures.
On board all of our vehicles we installed OBCs (on board computers) to integrate them with the IT system to control the transport process. Developed on the Blackberry smartphone platform where the on board printer is also connected.
The Control Room was launched, the innovative control room which, with its 8-meter videowall allows to constantly monitor the whole fleet guaranteeing the highest service and security standards.
First and only Company in Italy to undersign a voluntary agreement with the Ministry of Environment to monitor and reduce the damaging CO2 emissions. Aware of our social responsibility but also that a virtuous company pollutes less and wastes less.
“Autamarocchi Logistica Doo” was set up in Rijeka, Croatia, in a growing port destined to carry out an important role in the Northern Adriatic towards the Central European markets.
Version 2.0 of the Control Room was introduced where it is possible to monitor routes in real time and to analyze the waiting times at the entrance to terminals.
Launched new special services, like the transport of high value and high risk merchandise (HVHR). “Pharma” special services which combine the considerable experience in the transport of Reefer containers with the HVTT (high value theft targeted), in compliance with laws of the two sectors, while still offering “customized” services to our clients.
The presence in the central European markets grew. After Hungary and Slovenia, Autamarocchi Gmbh was launched in Graz, Austria. A network which completes the “North Adriatic Gate”, project dedicated to central Europe through a transport network linking it to the ports of Trieste, Koper and Rijeka.
The “Android” revolution started, to manage communication between the Control Room and our drivers who are now equipped with a new OBC (on board computer) based on smartphone HW and Android SW. The new system allows, among other things, digital signature by recipient, the transmission of pictures and documents and acts as back up for the tracking system and still has on board printing of documents.
An important change of the fleet with extremely modern vehicles and all in class Euro 6. 120 vehicles in one year and amongst these the first IVECO STRALIS NP (Natural Power)vehicles fed by liquid natural gas, truly efficient in reducing emissions.
Thanks to its policy for environmental protection, Autamarocchi has won the Green Award prize at the“Italian Terminal and Logistics Awards” in Piacenza.
FTL transport is increasingly more intermodal. Not only railway with its new “Huckepack” type semi-trailers, but also “Short Sea” to connect Southern Italy and the Mediterranean to Northern Europe. The network of the container depots grew with the opening of the Pioltello Terminal (Milan) and the Pontenure HUB (Piacenza).
During the first few months of the year, the “Android” plan was completed and all drivers were given a smartphone with the company App. The purchase of another 20 Iveco LNG tractors ensured Autamarocchi became the biggest LNG fleet in Italy.
Autamarocchi, through the integration of its own ICT systems with those of its own clients, became the standard-bearer of the 4.0 logistics.
New frontiers in Autamarocchi transports: Turkey with the Sea Motorways. Our organization for a "Door to Door" and “All In” service with our new 200 intermodal semi-trailers type Huckepack P400, geolocated (GPS), with coils well, and an organization focused on the ports of Trieste with destination Pendik (Istanbul), Mersin and Izmir.
2020 – 1° quarter
The renewal of the fleet increases that dedicated to the transport of Reefer
Containers. There are 50 Mercedes New Actros received in March – April 2020, all equipped with the latest generation of GenSets built on the Autamarocchi project. The fleet equipped with the Gen Sets is now of 210 vehicles to consolidate a great offer of service in container transport and our market leadership.
